More Modules, More Counter: Rethinking the Side Table on Modular Outdoor Kitchens

Most modular outdoor kitchens are designed one cabinet at a time. That works while a unit stands alone — but dock two or three together and the side tables in between stop earning their keep. You gained a module and lost surface. The VANRIOS KC-510 is built the other way around: every cabinet carries its own fixed side tables, and when the units are docked they line up into one continuous wrap-around work surface.

The Side Table Problem

Modular outdoor kitchens are usually drawn as single islands, and the side table is treated as an accessory for that island — somewhere to park a tray or a drink. In a showroom it works. On site it often does not.

Most project buyers do not run one island. They run three, docked into a straight run or wrapped into an L. That is where the usual design breaks down: the tables facing the joint get blocked by the next cabinet, and what is left is the two at the far ends. Add a module and the usable surface per module goes down, not up.

How the KC-510 Is Different

The KC-510 puts a fixed wood-finish side table on every cabinet, all set to the same height. Dock the units into a three-in-one run or into an L, and the tables do not collide — they meet. The surface carries on from the back of the run and wraps around the outermost cabinets at both ends, forming one continuous half-enclosed counter.

Nothing folds away and nothing needs re-assembling. Pull the modules into position and the working surface is already there.

What That Changes On Site

  • Prep, plating and drinks get their own zones — with three modules docked, every task is not crowded onto a single front countertop
  • The back run stays out of the way — cooking happens at the front, while the wrapped surface behind and at the ends takes the trays, the bottles and the prep work
  • The corner earns its keep — in an L configuration the inside corner is normally the dead spot; here it becomes usable surface
  • A single module still works alone — one unit keeps its own side tables, so it reads as a finished piece in a campground bay or a rented courtyard rather than one third of something bigger

Design and Mobility

The cabinet body is a rust-proof powder-coated aluminium frame finished in black, with slatted wood-look doors and wooden handles for a warm, Nordic look. Concealed heavy-duty braked castors sit under every module, so a unit can be repositioned without being emptied — and the configuration can be re-docked whenever a space changes.
